Google I/O 2022 is scheduled for May 11-12

Google just confirmed the date of this year's annual Google I/O developer event. The event starts on May 11 and runs through May 12.

What is Google I/O

Google I/O (or simply I/O) is an annual developer conference hosted by Google in Mountain View, California. I/O means input/output, just like the slogan Innovation in the Open. The format of the event is similar to Google Developers Day.

Sundar Pichai later took to Twitter to confirm the date and location of the 2022 Google I/O conference.

Google I/O 2022 will be a two-day event that will be virtually streamed online for free. It will continue to be held at the Shoreline Amphitheater.

This year there will also be a small private audience in the main report of the event. The tweet also includes a link to a website specific to the event, which features a unique live countdown timer and reveals more information about the event.

The site also allows users to sign up for their Google Developer account to receive the 2022 I/O attendee badge which will be added to the developer account.

Now coming to announcements, Google tends to announce all the latest technologies from smartphone features to IoT technology developments that are currently being worked on at the Google I/O event.

The event will most likely feature details on Android 13, its likely first beta release. We can also expect the tech giant to debut its first Pixel Watch smartwatch at this year's event, along with the budget-oriented Pixel 6a.
